How To Keep Your Customers Coming Back

So, you are getting customers yay, but they’re not coming back 🙁 What can I do to keep my customers coming back?

Here are 4 ways to retain customers and build customer loyalty.

1. Discounts for returning customers

I probably shop in my local beauty supply store once a week. I also owned a salon for 2 years and I always sent my hair clients to my local store. I have never received a discount in the eight years that I have been shopping in that store. The most they have given me is no tax and a couple of the free samples they received from different companies.  The only reason why I still shop there is because of the convenience. If there were another store to open up in the neighborhood I’ll probably give them a try.  You have to show appreciation to the customers that you already have. Give discounts for them coming back.

2. Give reward points to earn free products

Big companies are not the only ones that can create a Reward Points programs. Every time a customers shops,  you can give them 5 points. When they reach one thousand points you can give them a free product this encourages your customers to keep spending especially when your product is in demand. You know you have the bomb product or service so you are not worried. Right?

3. Remember their birthday
How would you feel if you woke up on your birthday and there was a card and a coupon in the mail from your favorite store.  You would feel like you want to go there, right?  Well, if you want to keep your customers coming back you have to  make them feel special. Give them a reason to come into your store or shop on your website.  Know your customers name.  Become personal with them. If you have an online store you can use personalization settings in your emails. Call them by their name. I remember when teespring first launched. You would sign into Facebook and see a t shirt with your name on it. They got me instantly.

4. Create a referral program
Don’t you love getting those punch cards at the nail salon. They punch hole it and every 5 appointments you get that $10 off. There was one time a few years ago that I really wanted to do my feet and when I realized that it was the day for me to get that $10, I was so hype. I even went and bought 2 slices of pizza next door. Reward your customers for shopping with you. Again, the big companies do it. Why won’t you?

One of the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs make is they focus so much on getting new customers that they forget about the customers they already have. Word of mouth is still one of the most lucrative ways to grow your business. So if you are treating your customers well and you give them exclusivity they will have no problem sharing your business with anyone they come in contact with.
