How To Craft Your Core Message When you’re a multi-passionate entrepreneur

Note: Our show name has changed to the Market Your Message Podcast. Please excuse us as we transition.

Here's some different categories you may fall into:

  1. You may be someone that’s passionate about many things

  2. You may be someone who’s good at a lot of things

  3. You may be someone who’s filled with knowledge

  4. You may be someone that has been in business for a while, and you’re hearing everyone talk about how you should have different streams of income

Most entrepreneurs think being multi-passionate means they’ll be creating several streams of income. But what happens is they’ll find out that they’re confusing their audience, or maybe they can’t get any of their ideas to become profitable.

What truly works is sticking to one thing. Work on making one thing profitable before you move to the next thing.

I have some advice for those of you that can’t stick to one thing.

Well let me tell you, the most important thing that you have to do if you want to be successful, even if you are multi-passionate is, you have to create a brand around yourself.

People buy people. They do not buy products and services. So if you want to be multi-passionate and have people follow you and buy all the different things you sell, you have to build a brand around yourself.

The biggest mistake that I see coaches make when they're crafting their core message is that they are overcomplicated.

The way you build a brand around yourself is by sharing your story. Sharing your story with people makes them trust you, and makes them willing to follow you/ your different business. That is the first way that you can use to position yourself to be  a multi-passionate person.

To sell many things, while still being able to craft your core message and have people following you no matter what. Know that when you make mistakes, people will give you grace. Nobody will go anywhere if you build your brand, build rapport, and nurture the relationships you’re building.

The next thing to do is find a common denominator.

Let’s say you’re in the finance business selling life insurance, but you’re also a coach. Instead of calling yourself a “coach entrepreneur” you could call yourself the coach of financial coaches. That’ll make things easier for you, and be your story. You could share this story and develop a brand around your finance expertise, without having to worry about talking about five different things. Craft a core message that speaks to that common denominator. Your common denominator in this scenario is finance. This method will not confuse your audience.

The next one is, keep it simple, but impactful! The biggest mistake that I see coaches make when they’re crafting their core message is that they are overcomplicated. They say too much when they talk about what they do, and they end up confusing people. It’s very important that you keep your message very simple so that you can avoid that. Doing the exercise listed above can help you with that.

Last but not least, you have to be consistent with your message.

When you’re multi-passionate, you tend to talk about a lot of different things. So now when somebody who doesn’t know you comes to your profile and they see one post where you’re talking about health, and then another post where you’re talking about money, they don’t know what you do, they’re confused. And note, a confused mind doesn’t know how to take action. What happens is they’re going to pay attention to the person who’s consistent with that core message where they could go search them and clearly see how that person can be a solution to their problem.

Another thing about people is they get used to repetitive things. When they start seeing you do or repeat something over and over again, they start to associate you with that message. This is how you start to develop a brand.

Again, how do you develop a brand?

Well, you layout your message, who you serve, what makes you different then stay consistent with it, and find your common denominator. When you find that and you’re consistently repetitive, you will no longer confuse your audience.

If you are a coach or service professional who wants to accelerate your results, you want to structure your business and you want to be able to create the things that you’ve read about today, that signature process, the stories, the things that you need to be able to consistently attract and sign high paying clients.
