There is a saying in the marketing world that says,
“If you are marketing to everyone, then you’re marketing to no one”
Have you heard that one before? I’m pretty sure you have because it’s all coaches talk about.
So instead of giving you empty solutions, I’m going to tell you exactly how you’ve been preventing yourself from standing out in your industry!
Let’s look at a quick example of what I mean.
Your Brand Message: “I attract women who want to make money from home”
If you were to search the bolded words in that sentence you’d see tons of content teaching you how to make money from home, because so many people are creating content on this topic.
Using a generic message like that will make it almost impossible for someone now starting to build their social media platform to stand out.
Now if you say, “I help women make more money from home by starting an Etsy store,” it will set you further apart from your competitors and specify your niche.
The first key to standing out is to stop serving everyone and specify your niche.
A lot of times when people come onto the online space they subconsciously begin to borrow other people’s messages.
Not speaking from your own experience is what’s repelling your ideal clients. You can’t expect to attract your people when you’re not even being your most authentic self.
The only way to avoid this huge and common mistake is by mapping out your story.
Once you map it out you can begin pulling quotes, live topics, and different types of content from it! And once you’re truly marketing your message, you’ll stand out in your niche!
Here’s a quick example of someone who owns their genius zone:
There’s a girl on Instagram who teaches people how to use video to grow their business. What’s unique about her is she has a funny side, so she specializes in teaching people how to add comedy to their video content.
Her specialty, which is a personality trait, is what makes her stand out because she decided to focus on what made her different.
She was able to tap into her genius zone and you need to do the same thing if you want to stand out in your industry.
The definition of a trend is, “a general direction of something that is developing and changing: the subject that goes viral for a short time.”
A lot of people do trending dances on Tik Tok, and while trends do bring a lot of exposure, you have to realize that there’s a new trend every week. These trends will only bring you a short time to reign, and once that’s over then what?
You won’t have anything original to say because you were so focused on jumping from trend to trend.
Having zero originality is a sure way not to stand out in your niche, so you need to make sure you always create your content.
Coaches who aren’t clear on their messaging, almost always are using industry jargon.
Industry jargon: These are common words that people in your industry are using.
Using industry jargon will make your ideal clients stray away because you’ll sound like everybody else they’ve already heard.
To captivate their attention, and stand out in your niche, you need crystal clear messaging about what you do.
Creating a signature framework that supports your unique methodology is one of the best ways to solidify your expertise, and stand out in your niche.
When you shine a light on your proven process, your ideal clients will not only be able to associate you with success but also with whatever it is you specialize in.
